This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Administrative position Assistant for the Academic Success Center at Oregon State University (OSU)
The Academic Success Center (ASC) supports student success at OSU and serves as a hub for academic success programming and vital connections to campus resources. Programs at the ASC include the Academic Learning Services (ALS) and University Exploratory (UEXP) academic department, Academic Coaching, Supplemental Instruction, the Strategist program, the Learning Corner resource website, and a range of other services. The Writing Center (WC) provides support for OSU students, faculty, and staff. Support is provided at all stages of the writing process from brainstorming through drafting, revising, and editing.
The purpose of this position is to support and assist in the delivery of academic support services within the Academic Success Center and Writing Center. Central responsibilities include serving as the course coordinator for the ALS and UEXP department and providing administrative support to ASC/WC programs. This includes supporting unit operations and participating in—and at times leading—team-level projects. This position is essential to the efficient and effective administration of the ASC/WC and the ALS/UEXP department. The successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as participate in a collaborative team environment. This position reports to and will work closely with the director of the Academic Success Center.
Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; and Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.
Three years of office/administrative experience that includes lead work or coordination of office/administrative procedures (can include project management)
Ability to explain and ensure compliance with university and unit levels policies, in order to complete time-sensitive, detail-oriented administrative tasks
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight to complete projects
Experience working collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent tools) to develop visual and text based documents
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position spends some time interfacing with and supporting students, families, faculty and staff and other OSU stakeholders. The desk space for this position is in a busy office with competing priorities. Occasional evening work may be involved.
