The Department of Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology (BCMB) and the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) in the Biology division at the University of Tennessee invite applications for a non-tenure track, full-time, 9-month position of Lecturer. The primary responsibilities of this position are to teach core undergraduate classes for majors and non-majors: BCMB 230, a large introductory course and laboratory on human physiology (Spring and Fall) and EEB 240, a large introductory course and laboratory in human anatomy (Spring). Summer teaching is an option for additional pay. The Departments offer B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology and in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, providing a first-rate environment for engaging students and colleagues in collaborative research and teaching efforts. Minimal qualifications: 1) a Ph.D. in the area of Human Physiology and Anatomy with significant graduate coursework in these disciplines; 2) teaching experience in biology; and 3) a demonstrated interest in teaching and research and evidence-based best education practices for student success.
Preferred qualifications include the above, plus: 1) experience teaching large introductory lecture courses with laboratory; 2) experience with the development of a laboratory course; and 3) experience supervising and mentoring graduate teaching assistants.
