PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY
Pacific Lutheran University is a private university located in Tacoma, Washington. The university is home to approximately 3,500 students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. Through its seven schools: Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts & Communication, Business, Education and Kinesiology, and Nursing, PLU offers more classes and more opportunities than most liberal arts colleges.
Students have the opportunity to work close-up and hands –on with professors and classmates. Professors at PLU not only serve as mentors who help students discover the professional opportunities in academic fields, but as colleagues who work side-by-side with students on research and creative projects.
PLU seeks to educate students for lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership, and care- for other people, for their communities, and for the earth.
Pacific Lutheran University is pleased to provide you with Good Fit, the University's comprehensive Employee Benefit Program that offers you a variety of employee benefit options. From medical care to retirement - with wellness ideas, time off benefits, and continuing education opportunities in between - Good Fit was created because we understand that one size doesn't fit all.

LIVING DIVERSITY AT PLU
Diversity in the faculty, students and staff is a major source of PLU’s intellectual vitality and innovative spirit. PLU is a welcome home for all regardless of race, ethnicity, or culture. It is not enough to admit and hire a diverse population; rather PLU promotes leadership in diversity education, in institutionalizing the university's diversity goals, and in maintaining and celebrating a campus culture where all members of the community demonstrate respect, integrity, honesty and good community relations. PLU strives to be a community where people of different cultures, intellectual positions and life-goals can reach their full potential. Such an environment develops respect for differences while fostering caring relationships, cross-cultural understanding, and common educational commitments.
The university is explicit about its responsibility to all members of our community regardless of race, color, national origin, creed, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation or disability. PLU’s community values diversity, and continues to widen its diversity efforts through the seamless integration of academic and student affairs opportunities that enhance the diversity curriculum. Faculty, students, and community members are all encouraged to participate in diversity scholarship and programming in cross-campus university events.
THE NORTHWEST AND PUGET SOUND
There's nothing quite like the Pacific Northwest, so it's easy to see why the Puget Sound area continues to grow and attract thousands of people every year. PLU is just minutes away from downtown Tacoma and the unique culture that the city offers including the world famous Museum of Glass, the Tacoma Art Museum and the Washington State History Museum. The short drive to Seattle means you'll also have the opportunity to enjoy big-city entertainment like the Experience Music Project or major league ball games at beautiful Safeco Field.
Given that the Seattle-Tacoma area is situated on the vibrant and culturally diverse Pacific Rim, you also reap the benefits of the Northwest such as the picturesque Mt. Rainier National Park and the rugged Olympic coastline.
